USB Wi-Fi Network Analyzer to Help Enterprises Visualize, Troubleshoot and Optimize Wireless Networks as They Swap the Crowded 2.4 GHz Band for Speedier 5 GHz 802.11n Networks

Las Vegas, NV (PRWEB) April 28, 2008 -- MetaGeek (www.metageek.com), a leading innovator and provider of USB-based Wi-Fi spectrum analyzer solutions, will conduct pre-release demonstrations of its latest Wi-Spy 5x, at Interop in Las Vegas in booth #261, April 29 through May 1.

As the 2.4 GHz band grows increasingly crowded with Wi-Fi components and other devices, it is no surprise that enterprises are eager to move to 5 GHz for their wireless networks. Bundled with MetaGeek's Chanalyzer 3.1 software, which provides a device signature library, collaboration tools, and other useful features, Wi-Spy 5x allows users to actually see their 5GHz wireless network, troubleshoot interference and, ultimately, optimize it. While 802.11n ratification is not expected until November of this year, MetaGeek is joining other enterprise networking device manufacturers in staying ahead of the wireless network "curve."

Wi-Spy 5x can scan the radio frequency range from 5.170 GHz to 5.815 GHz (compete coverage of 802.11a/n), with a resolution of 328 KHz. It can detect signals in the amplitude range of -100 dBm to -15 dBm with a resolution of 0.5 dBm.

Wi-Spy 5x comes bundled with Chanalyzer 3.1, the latest release of MetaGeek's wireless visualization software. Chanalyzer 3.1 offers users the unique ability to visually identify signatures of specific electronic devices that may be interfering with any wireless network signal on either the 2.4 or 5 GHz band. This enables significantly improved installation of wireless devices and faster troubleshooting of complete networks.

Chanalyzer 3.1 offers three different views to help troubleshoot Wi-Fi network issues: spectral, topographic and planar.
