CALCUTTA, India - Bayern Munich goalkeeper Oliver Kahn played his final game before more than 100,000 fans Tuesday and received a diamond-studded farewell trophy from his Indian hosts. The 38-year-old Kahn is retiring and kept a clean sheet in his last game - a 3-0 win for Bayern over India's Mohun Bagan Club - before leaving the Salt Lake Stadium field to a standing ovation in the 53rd minute.
"It is something exceptional to play your last game before such a crowd," said the former Germany international. "This is a great moment in my career."
It was also the last game at Bayern for coach Ottmar Hitzfeld, who takes over the Swiss national team after the European Championship, and Jan Schlaudraff, who scored two goals and joins Hannover next season.
Schlaudraff beat onrushing goalkeeper Sangram Mukherjee to score in the 17th minute following a poor clearance by Mohun Bagan defender Anandvasan.
Ze Roberto made it 2-0 with a swerving free kick from the top of the box that went past Mukherjee.
Schlaudraff was again on target in the 51st when he shot home during a melee inside the box.
